poetry 5

that morning brought
the lilly's orange smile
bright and open
over the marble sink
into which sweet
kissing drops
escaped my hungry slurp
.

this morning i decide
i will use just sunlight
in my day's sustanance
nothing else.
will suck up the sun
like a high tree top
letting my insides work
for me
while i
revel
in my being

i open the front door
in the evening
and hear a crackling leaf
which is autumn
blowing in
the brown dry leaf
is trapped
between mat
and door
between in
and out

the leaf just cracks
softly,
like music
singing its autumn song

and soon the sun
will be a memory
while the gas heater
glows
and sustanance
arrives
in potato form
and cabage.

in a sense
my innocence
is wasted
like the numbing morning cigarette
the smoke
a fog
in my head
as the thick
winter cumulus
washes over table mountain
and a foreign world
oozes past.
